Constraining Decaying Dark Matter with Fermi LAT Gamma-rays
High energy electrons and positrons from decaying dark matter can produce a significant flux of gamma rays by inverse Compton off low energy photons in the interstellar radiation field. This possibility is inevitably related with the dark matter interpretation of the observed PAMELA and FERMI excesses. The aim of this paper is providing a simple and universal method to constraint dark matter mo...
متن کاملDark Matter Decaying Now
The instability of dark matter may produce visible signals in the spectrum of cosmic gamma-rays. We consider this possibility in frameworks with additional spatial dimensions and supersymmetry. Examples of particles include superweakly-interacting massive particles such as gravitinos in supersymmetry models, the lightest Kaluza-Klein (KK) state in models with universal extra dimensions, and wea...
متن کاملReionization and decaying dark matter.
Gunn-Peterson tests suggest that the Universe was re-ionized after the _tazldard recombination epoch. We present a systematic treatment of the ionization process by deriving the Boltzmann equations appropriate to this regime. A compact solution for the photon spectrum is found in terms of the ionization ratio. These equations are then solved numerically for the Decaying Dark Matter scenario, wh...
متن کاملDecaying majoron dark matter and neutrino masses
We review the recent proposal by Lattanzi & Valle of the majoron as a suitable warm dark matter candidate. The majoron is the Goldstone boson associated to the spontaneous breaking of ungauged lepton number, one of the mechanisms proposed to give rise to neutrino masses. The majoron can acquire a mass through quantum gravity effects, and can possibly account for the observed dark matter compone...
متن کاملGamma ray constraints on Decaying Dark Matter
We derive new bounds on decaying Dark Matter from the gamma ray measurements of (i) the isotropic residual (extragalactic) background by Fermi and (ii) the Fornax galaxy cluster by H.E.S.S.. We find that those from (i) are among the most stringent constraints currently available, for a large range of DM masses and a variety of decay modes, excluding half-lives up to ∼ 1026 to few 1027 seconds. ...
